Pictured are all of the plate scales going on my tail, some unpainted teeth and freckles. (I made lots of extra teeth and freckles). You can also see a couple of my plaster scale molds. Plaster molds aren't pretty or durable, but dang are they cheap. I will re-use them to make plate scales for other parts of my body.
The scales I made the exact same way people make pawpads. In my testing, black spandex worked as a backing fabric, but the silicone seeped through my offwhite spandex. I don't know what the problemo is, but this means I'll have to sew my scales on instead of glue them. I need to find a new backing fabric.
I followed Beetlecat's guides on teeth and jawsets. (Just google "beetlecat teeth" and you'll find the relevant livejournals). I'm going to draft the teeth arrangement using the unpainted epoxy teeth and some Plasticine, then go ahead and finish the teeth.
Happy new year, by the way!

Holy cow, that's a genius idea!!! (http://i.imgur.com/UmpOi.gif) Iron on interfacing... Man... Thank you for the tip. I've heard of using fleece, but I wanted something lower profile, but I'll definitely test the interfacing.
