For some reason, I look at this and cannot help but notice it looks like a face, like a 'surprised bandit wearing a big hat', or something. Its not the drawing so much as the ship design itself.

The excelsior was always one of my favorite ships. They did a nice job of making it aesthetically fit in, in-between the classic TOS look and TNG. And yet it manages to have so much more character than the Galaxy class ;)

Start Trek 6 (The Undiscovered County) is still my favorite.

It also used to be my favorite Micro-machine when I was a kid. I still have a bunch of my Star Trek micro's lying around... so great. Such a shame that Galoob got bought out by Hasbro :(

Yeah, they got bought out in 1998, and Micro Machines disappeared soon after. I used to hang out on the Galoob Star Wars "Buzz Board" bbs - fun place. Most Star Trek Micro Machines actually aren't that expensive right now if you want to get them - NIB packages on eBay often go for exactly what they were going for in stores years ago (if you don't count shipping).

The Excelsior class ships were my favorite during the time that the movie series came out. Unfortunatly they seemed rather over engined and under shielded and gunned during the dominion wars during DS9. Pity Scotty pulled the transwarp computer core chips from her and put the project on hold because of it.

Yeaaahh... they got eaten alive in the DS9 series... like canon fodder. But I suppose thats what happens when you use ships from a different generation, I mean, The Miranda class got equally eaten in the shows.

The best ship in the Star Trek franchise, second only to voyager. Awesome piece!
