The Pizza place which I submitted my art to sent me a nice scan of the image as a winner's certificate. Of course the image has been shrunk down and photoshopped a bit, but it gives a good idea of how my entry turned out. I might scrap this later... Maybe not.

i made a mech similar to it myself http://www.furaffinity.net/full/9331916/
Cool! I like how you put the red eyes on it. It reminds me of the days I used to play "Battledroids" in the late 1980s with my wargaming buddies. I had a couple "House Karuta" Mechs, similar to the Robotech "Spartan" and "Tomahawk." They just looked wicked with those yellow, glaring eyes painted on them.
Woah! Now Armored Core is another, "Rave Fave" series of model kits that I'd like to build more of. If I ever get back down to my collection in the Desert, I'll grab those kits for sure. I also used to dig Patlabor, but I had to sell all my model kits of that series. Gosh I would have loved to had built the "Griffon."
Well, I figured they had to take a photo of the entry, then translate it into a smaller format. I know my lines were ruler straight, and I figure the camera was set up at a lower angle which might explain the wonky borders. Still, it's the first time I've gotten recognition for my art after moving up here, and I hope it's the first step in the right direction.
interesting how we still use steam engines. I think they call them Sterling Engines or something?
for instance a nuclear reactor. you just have hot uranium instead of burning coals!
so I guess a steam-mech isn't far off
I'm a long-time mech pilot going back to the first Mechwarrior (PC Game) and I play Mechwarrior Online

Cool! Do they still use those "Inner Sphere" Warhammers? I've heard that there's a site with a Warhammer/Tomahawk simulator on it. Well... Before I get off the subject, I still cherish my unbuilt Arii Macross Tomahawk model kits.
Yeah! I was there when MechWarrior had to change it's name from "Battlebots", and surplus giant battle robot model kits were so cheap and abundant, enthusiasts would build their models, set them up in their backyards, and in true MechWarrior fashion, they'd plink them apart with BB Guns.
To answer your question though. Steam Engines are not Sterling engines, but they are similar in that they deal with heat transfer. The Sterling is more a "Thermal" engine in that it uses the difference between hot or cold to move a piston or mechanical device. So Sterling engines can be run on everything from a candle to focused solar arrays. Steam engines have been in use and development for almost 300 years now, and there's hundreds of types that are designed to get the last bit of energy out of every puff of steam.
And I found your comparison of using A Nuclear Reactor instead of a bed of coals very astute.

they have most every old mech. Jenner, Locust, Warhammer, rifleman, marauder, Atlas etc.
They release new mech packs all the time (new mechs)
Every mech is unique with different hit boxes, weapon location (high up on the body is better), cockpit, etc.
the game has problems of course, its had a tough development. but, there is no other game out there like it!

thanks! I had better be learning SOMETHING from the stuff I spend time to read :)
