Interesting choice of weaponry. In most cases the weaponized implement of the scythe would place the blade along the same direction of the length of the shaft, because it would retain cutting efficiency while allowing its wielder to connect his attack without risking a defender taking hold of the shaft near the end.

At the time I was going for more of a farmer's scythe to emphasize the lack of proper equipment though too.
