Sun, don't go, stay a while and look,
How beautiful is the one I love?
Sun, you who travel around the world,
tell me, have you ever seen someone so beautiful?
And the sun answered, 'it makes me ashamed,
for your lover is twice is beautiful as I.'
It's the Sun, my love, that inflames you
and next to the others you shine like the sun'
So, it wasn't only randomonlooker who sang me love songs, I sang them to myself as well.
This one is a Griko song, from a small part of italy that still speaks a dialect of almost ancient greek.
Performed as part of a concert with Random on the guitar and members of our quintet on the other isntruments, as well as some other musicians. I must have been 15 or 16 in this recording. Boy, time flies!
I hope you enjoy the song! :)
And pardon my translation... My apologies to the English language and its poets.

Aw, thanks! It really is a nice song, quite soothing~
I'm mostly a classical musician, but I love working on folksongs when I can; they've got that air of timelessness and oral tradition that is a little lacking from formal music-making!
I hope you enjoy the rest of my gallery and future submissions! =)

Aw, thanks! And everyone has a soft spot for accordions, from the rancid dance tunes of pirates and sailors to almost pagan festivals around a bonfire or the light expressive tremolos of a tale in music! =D
it's always wonderful to hear that a piece of music can do that, or bring tears. Musicians thrive on despair and joy. :P

Exactly! It brings a certain charm to whatever it touches. None can resist the power of the accordion!
....well, excluding my english teacher last year - he believed that the accordion belonged in a burning tomb in the sixth circle of hell with all the heretics while we were reading Dante's Inferno.
Pfffft. Forget him, what did he ever do for me anyway? Uh, besides teach me how to actually analyze stories and properly write essays.....
True! And on the flip side, those same feelings are what really draw the audience in. At least from my view - I always have a special appreciation for those songs that bring smiles or tears (manly or otherwise).

It's amazing what a couple milligrams of amphetamines will do.
If I'm ever in the US I'll pop you a message, we can try and replace the cello for a tuba in one of his piano trios! The largo from his second one in E minor should do nicely, muahaha! >:3
But are you sure that you can take my Shostakovich? He's pretty hard. :P

Hah, you're an eager fellow! I'm sadly not scheduled to travel to america any time soon, but I could try and record with my pianist and you could fill up the empty space (or double the cellist, if we're lucky enough to get one!). I know trios one and two and the piano quintet in G minor, so you just need to pick your favourite or the one that's most suitable for transcription!
It's all thanks to my smoking habits. And relentless practice. Between.. puffs... *gasp* Sorry, ran out of breath there.
And are you? My father always told me the way to one's heart was through their stomach, but then again he was a chef. =P
But in all seriousness, thank you!!! That means a lot to me, especially coming from an opera student such as yourself! =D

Oh I will track you down, find you and toss all your tobacco, if you smoke and have such wonderful voice... DO NOT SMOKE, PLEASE! I kill you! :D I will also find your picture and post it in every store to not sell you any cigarets! :D :P
I sound like a truck siren comparing to you, in all honesty, I should just shut up XD Really, you are so amazingly talented!

If you touch my DMT I'll become like the Arabs and slice yer hands off! Though now you're running the risk of me moving next to your house and pretend I'm smoking for free cookies. =P
I'm partial to Monteverdi myself~ And haha, I was kidding,no-one likes Wagner unless they're looking to drown out conversation or trying to inspire themselves to conquer Poland. =P

Oh, I love sappy! I'm a total sucker for sentimental love songs (my hubby and I are very sappy ourselves), and especially love music like this, as I grew up on Spanish guitar, bluegrass, Appalachian mountain music, Celtic folk and classic country. This is just so lovely; I can't stop listening to it! <3 I adore the "April Flower" he did for you as well; seems to be a variation on the same tune. :)
There's little better than melting into someone else, haha! That's why I love brie.
Yes, that is a beautiful song - I always prefer men's voices to be honest. After he'd sing me one of his serenades there was nothing I wouldn't do for him, heh. =P
As for the similarity, I guess it's because we finished these up in such a short timespan that there must have been interference between the two! And thank you, I love getting people addicted, heh.

Yeah, these were recorded by professionals! And thank you, it was a labour of love. :)
You could say 'πετάξω να τη βρω, έξω από τόπο και καιρό και δίπλα της να μείνω.' or something, haha! =P
But enough with the nonsense, thank you~ I'm happy you enjoyed the song. :)

I've watched some of it on television at a friends place, and some of the transitions were... I'd say daring, buy very enjoyable.
During the intermission they featured this clip, called Honeymoon in Austria, basically twenty-three minutes of sightseeing, underlined with music (I know the violinist who appears around minute five). So if you're in the mood of seeing the nicer parts of Austria, then this is just that!
Also, around 6:15 there is a familiar sight... at least for me it is! The castle-ruin Kollmitz. The place I called home, before it was taken from me. Heh.

I think I was too overwhelmed by the music to notice! I enjoyed it thoroughly, heh. That hall sounds and looks absolutely divine, I think that for the duration of the concert I left all my reasoned thought somewhere else.
Huh, that castle actually does look familiar! I mean, I didn't get a bird's eye view, but many years ago Daniel and I were invited to perform in another castle (With Very nice halls, the walls were fantasticaly thick! And the sound, well, that was also something to behold - parallel to some cathedrals, but cozier.), err, afterwards we went to a ruin which looks similar to this Kollmitz! Could/can you go up the tower?
Hopefully I won't be breaching any privacy, but how come?

It's probably better to leave all the unnecessary thought outside and enjoy it on a more subconscious area.
Something amusing happens when I throat-sing while meditating. Sometimes, instead of focusing on various objects in my mind, I start to drift off to my own song. It sort of... unfolds into something more grand, to which I would again trance off to. Like an additional parallel was revealed to me. That process keeps repeating itself for quite a while!
That is quite possible. I could imagine that it was the Castle Raabs. Both Raabs and Kollmitz run along the river Thaya. Remember any of that?
Yes, you can climb both towers. One from its direct base, and one you had to go around a catwalk first, before entering the tower (at around 15 meters height)
And well... It's a long story, that I once wrote down in its full detail and picturesque. You may read about it there. At this point, I hope I am not too annoying by sending all these links.

I was never one for meditation, but almost every time I put all my mind and heart into the music I drift off into one of my many fantasies for the music. I guess that it's comparable to a trip, haha! I usually don't notice the applause immediately because I'm usually a bit too dazed, I sort of 'fade back' into reality.
I checked where they were on the map, I guess I should have done so sooner, heh, the castles were in the vicinity of Vienna, about one or two hours by car.
Ah, I guess we had similar experiences then, my parents had an accident a few months after Daniel died; that's what really pushed me over the edge. I was an adult by legal definition, but that knowledge didn't help me, I really had no-one to turn to except for Daniel's cousin (antiup here) to who I am unimaginably indebted. And no, not at all, I'm glad that you showed me that, intellectually I know I'm not alone in this situation, but knowing someone with a similar experience is comforting (and that's probably the wrong word to use, heh).

I'd only hold the Sun up for a couple of minutes! Just enough to send the scientific and electronic world into great distress (could you imagine if one day was suddenly four minutes longer for no apparent reason? I wonder if that would send satellites out of calibration, especially GPS! I mean, their momentum ought to keep them going for a bit even after the earth stops spinning thus changing their position which is usually the same relative to a given surface on earth. Poor satellites in GEO.)
And thank you! As always, the joy is mine, there's nothing better than knowing that I could bring a few moments of pleasure to someone's day! =D
