This is a quick GIFT ARTWORK to my dear buddy

Did I say “quick”…? No, it wasn’t quick, at all. Several problems and challagnes kept me busy here:
1.) MANGA STYLE
I wanted this artwork to be totally drawn in Japanese MANGA style. Okay, I’ve done some anime-ish drawings before… but not when it comes to the line artwork and the drawing style itself. I had to browse through different tutorials, how to draw a “real” manga face of boys and girls. In the end, I’m quite satisfied with my very first (!) manga boy.
Okay, the dragon… looks more or less like a typical Reichel-dragon again. XD
2.) COLOURING
The colouring had to be very simple; no textures and just one shading level. Anyway, the colours are so bright and powerful… it’s been a very difficult choice, which colour to use. Dammit! If you have only a few colours to choose from, you really need to choose wisely. I hope I made the right choices! ^^”
3.) SHADING
The shading was supposed to be very dark, because of the dark background. Also, I wanted the shading to express the “toughness” of both characters. Okay… we can all agree on the fact that the green dragon just might be very strong… alright. But the boy… so small compared to the huge beast… and still, both characters are equally cool and strong – in their own way. And that’s why I’ve also given the boy a hard, dark shading. ^^
4.) BACKGROUND
One of the most difficult choices… what kind of background I should use? I tried something with flames at first, but it looked too cartoony and very stupid. Then, it suddenly occurred to me… these bright colours… this green, yellow and orange… these colours HAD to be “disarmed”. In fact, I chose one of my “comfortable” night-with-stars background. But it was a good decision, because this background lowers the brightness and strenght of the other colours – which is good for the eyes and the soul. :3
So then... I hope you like my little gift, buddy! It's really nothing big... just a little token of friendship. ^^

In fact... I have a lot of different style at my sleeves... but this one here is not just a very "simple" one - it's the first style, which looks more like common MANGAS than ever before.

As you certainly see, this artwork done by a friend of yours has been a great inspiration to me... talking about the boy's look and the character composition. ^_^
I hope, that was fine with you.
It hasn't been easy... to step aside from my detailed-realistic style for this one.
But hey... maybe... I will draw your characters in my realistic style in time. ^____^

Both looks amazing, but I like more what you have done with Shounen, his face loos amazing and that grin is amazing ^ ^
But the eyes ^ ^ Those eyes are extremely different from your usual style!

In fact, I always had problems at LOWERING my detail level... but it's getting better now. ^_^
About the characters... yes. The dragon is pretty much standard issue... but I put most work into the boy, yepp. I had to redraw it many times.
