The edges of the fans pedistal were pitted with rust and it took me a couple of hours and some fine steele wool to get it all out. Everything below the yellow stripe on the base was refinished and painted. I was scared that the paint would look too different from the rest of the fan, too shiny, but i think it blends in pretty good. Not too shabby.
