$45 Airbush/Realism commission for Sandra Fowler of her Bakali character, Adhira trying to hide after what seems to be an attack.
Second of these types of commissions in a row where the requirement included scales. Thankfully as Adhira is a snake lady as it were, then the scale pattern was different than the last image, and in one way easier in other ways not since it's a lot of body to cover. Of the greatest difficulty this time around (other than dealing with a CG background of texturey goodness) was her color. Metallic blue is the color of cars, and basically doesn't exist in nature. Of the backgrounds I got to pick from it was either a.) jungle or b.) Middle Eastern something something. Jungle undergrowth is dark and brown, (I guess it would work with blue...) and random Arabian alley ways are well, grey, white and brown. Let's go with B. Maybe the last airbrush commission can win the contrast wars with exceptional ease, this not going to. Not winning the detail crush on the scaling either. Spend forever doing hair and such, and once I shrink it for the net, all the detail goes poof.
Anyway, happy to do a painting, almost always am. Hard work but it keeps me up late being all excited to work on it and finish it. Probably the one commission that if I hadn't been completely swamped with other ones; I would have basically worked on non-stop and had it done a lot quicker than I had (still got this done in under 3 weeks, along with 5 other commissions. Now onto the last "commission" and then a very short break.)
