Sketch takes 30 seconds, I spend the rest of the time colouring. The backgrounds are always done really quickly - this one isn't as refined as it could be, but all the colours I want are in the right place. I spend most of the time on the character since that's what people wanted me to draw. Lighting like this is good for quick stuff as well because you don't have to blend it so much - the contrast between light and dark is needed for the whole firelit feel.
