They are completely harmless, beautiful creatures, much sought-after by people in the insect hobby. :) And... it exists for the same reason roaches, spiders and other "undesirable" invertebrates exist; they're beneficial to the ecosystem and have just as much right to be here as we do (if not more right). Apologies for the instant jump into defensiveness; I'm just really used to people reacting negatively to things they know nothing about, and love any opportunity to educate them.

Oh no :c too little humidity or just bad luck? I've read about how they need more specific care than most people think in order to fully thrive, but it's hard to find much detailed info on them.

A bit of both. I had just purchased the critter and it molted less than 48 hours later, so I suspect travel/rehousing stress was a major factor in it. Unfortunately it was just outside the window for getting a return :<
