wikipedia is your friend <3 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amblypygi & more specifically: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damon_diadema In order to find one of these in my house, I'd have to live in Central Africa, Kenya or Tanzania, and even if I did, I'd be super happy about it since they sell for $30+, -when- you can find them for sale online. They are completely harmless, beautiful creatures, much sought-after by people in the insect hobby. :) And... it exists for the same reason roaches, spiders and other "undesirable" invertebrates exist; they're beneficial to the ecosystem and have just as much right to be here as we do (if not more right). Apologies for the instant jump into defensiveness; I'm just really used to people reacting negatively to things they know nothing about, and love any opportunity to educate them.
