Once human, Celestina and her mother were captured by slavers on a cold winter morning while her father was gathering supplies. Celestina managed to escape the slavers by impaling one of them in the neck with an icesickle, but unknowingly ran into a pack of Barghests in the forest. Her soul was ripped from her body and carried to their lair, while her comatose body was eventually found by her father Agathos. The Barghests were soon slain by a hunter named Vincent van Helsing, but his familiar, Delm, manipulated Celestina's memories after resurrecting her, turning her into a demon for the purpse of killing his master. However, van Helsing expected this and vanquished Delm without hesitation, causing Celestina's body to detiorate without the assistance of Delm to keep her soul and body stable. When Agathos was taken to his daughter by van Helsing, he performed dark magic to bind his lifeforce with hers, turning Celestina into a Shikigami and infusing her body with parasitic serpents connected to her spine which leech lifeforce from anyone nearby. As a cost for performing dark magic however, Agathos's body was destroyed and he was transformed into a Phantom. Delm removed most of Celestina's human emotions and memories, so she can be pretty rude at times, often coming off as tsundere.
