Saw a tutorial.... Unfortunately, Photoshop tutorials are worthless in Corel Painter, since Painter seems to be stupid about blending layers.
Trying to learn how to paint ice because at some point, someone's going to want some World of Warcraft fan art.

Yeah. Unfortunately again... Photoshop has a VERY steep learning curve. And it's gonna take me a very long time to get the nice "painterly" effects that I can currently get in painter. :(
.... Why must Painter be so freaking buggy, and lack so many common features? I mean, freaking Paint Tool SAI has transparency painting.

I personally become frustrated with Painter because I find it somewhat uncomfortable to use in a 'physical' sense, as well as that, like you, some tools simply don't operate in the way that I expect them to.
Photoshop works on a simpler level, in my opinion, and isn't necessarily harder than Painter to use; it just takes time to learn how it works. But it has a good range of versatility in brushes, and there are many brushes which offer the capacity for achieving a more 'painterly' appearance to your works.
The other alternative is Paint Tool SAI. I understand it to be exceedingly popular amongst digital artists of many levels. Its interface is simple enough, and it also offers some of the more realistic paint effects that are present in Painter. I don't use it often, but I can see why many people choose to. It offers the capacity for totally transparent layers, but I don't really recall how blending between them works.

I have. But that seems awfully tedious... And with my procedures, I have a feeling I'd be switching back and forth on like.... every layer. :\
If anything, I'd do my line art in Painter, and the special effects in Photoshop.
Basically, Corel Painter is worthless for anything involving transparencies... like ice.

Lol well... idk if that's happened yet, but if I ever ask art from you (not for free silly. No one does free art lol) but my sona is an ice bunny. It has no relation to WoW or FMA or PKMN. Just a character I made. Anyways I like the look of your cubes up there lol
