I got this program quite a while ago already, but never really tried painting with it yet, which is what it's meant for. I know NOTHING about painting and colors and every try so far is just me doing random stuff, so here's a promise that once I come back from my US trip I will practise this a bit! Maybe I could take some bust commissions like this one, to get used to the program, and then hopefully make actual paintings at one point.
Sorry for the endless smiling-Kiki-face-on-purple-background repetition, I wanted to warm up my hand and wrist for badge commissions, since I didn't draw and ink in a few days. Kiki faces require no thinking whatsoever :P Painting like this is pretty relaxing MUCH less straining that inking and coloring on paper!
ArtRage is a digital art program that imitates traditional media very well, and it's very cheap! http://www.artrage.com/

its around 200-300 for the regular one, and about 80-90 for the educational edition. and yes, thats what corel is known for is being able to imitate traditional media such a watercolor. i have corel painter 12 which is the newest one that came out, but the old ones work well too.

My dad gave me this for christmas and i honestly love the way it simulates real canvases and paper. But i have yet to find a way to make selections with curved edges and the angle tool is pretty confusing. But it is still as you said, very relaxing. According to Steam i have already found myself using it for 6 hours this week.
