I think you did a fantastic job. I could tell this was a female in the thumb nail. It's in the face and hips. I think ya got it spot on.

As I've said many times before, my eyes go to the face first. I picked up on the longer eyelashes first and the long hair and assumed the correct gender. The hips work well but her legs and especially her calves are a little too thick to my eyes. I would also have to add that they legs are too thick to my eyes but seem to fit the rest of her. I don't understand how that works in my brain but the slightly thicker legs somehow match the rest of her. So, yeah, I guess you got it right.

Great, now I'm all perplexed and stuff.

I have to agree with you on your observations--I, too, first notice eyes...I think I remember last year that I wasn't satisfied with the eyes in that female subject...but this year, they eyes do have that feminine aspect to them. However, I also felt that the calves seemed a bit too wide for female legs.

She only got about half the favs other, much more poorly drawn, females I've done have gotten. Maybe it was a bad time to post or people were upset at lack of boobage. Hehe.

Well maybe she's one of those full figured gals. ;) But yeah I didn't want her 'model' thin or anything so sounds about right to me. Hehe. My main focus was on the hips, that's usually where I fall the most short when drawing the ladies! Well, that and boobs, but here I hid them away. >.> Baby steps. ^.^

Yeah well look at the audience you are putting your art to? Alot of folks on this site will post of their typical, "EWE! Girls..they have gross parts!" or just flat out ignore something that has a female in it, let alone just a female! Don't let it discourage you!

I dunno if that's the case really. Far as artwork goes, girls still rank pretty high. I still think a good bit of the fandom is gay or bi out of necessity. Hehe.

I think you're doing a fine job on female characters. If you're finding it difficult to do breasts and female hips etc., the best thing you can do is practice, too. Don't hide 'em - work on 'em, and if you can't get 'em right, work on 'em some more until you do! :)

Always good advice!! Though harder to actually implement. ^.^ I get frustrated kinda quick and will give up for awhile. Lol. Not a good practice when it comes to drawing. >.>
