A rare chance meeting with an old Polish woman at my local markets meant I had an oppurtunity to aquire some fresh nettles. Now Nettles are an old ingredient that was frequently used in stews and as a tea. It is benificial for those women who suffer issues during their mentral cycle.
My daughter has such issues and she had a cold so we made a multi-purpose tea.
Ingredients
A fist full of nettles, rinsed
1-2 Taablespoons of honey (sweeten to you personal taste)
Juice of a lemon or 1/2 cup lemon juice
1.5 ltrs Boiling water
slices of fresh or dried lemon to decorate
Appropriate sized jug that can handle boiling water.
Method
put nettles lemon juice and honey into a suitable jug, pour on boiling water and stir carefully. Allow to rest for 30 minutes.
Serve hot, warm or as a refreshing cold drink
To serve hot pour out the dessired amount of tea that you want (include a piece of nettle), reheat if neccessary and add two slices of lemon. Extra honey can be added if its not sweet enough. Enjoy.
To serve cold pour out dessired amount of tea, add fresh lemon slices and ice. Looks nice in a tall glass.

Pro-tip: Rinse the nettles before touching them. A thorough rinsing under running water should kill the stinging hairs.
I could do a similar writeup with sweet fern*. It's very fragrant and grows all over the northeast but hardly anyone knows of it.
*Comptonia peregrina, which is not a fern. Sweet cicely is sometimes called sweet fern as well and it's not a fern either.
