I'm posting this because I keep seeing really terrible how to videos on you-tube to camo air-soft guns. however you could use this to paint anything from a coffee mug "don't the paint will make the coffee taste yucky" to a car it's the method not the product I'm displaying here.
#Note the rust-oleum camouflage is because it is an Ultra flat type of spray paint. You can use whatever but if you are painting mettle I recommend spray paint because it sticks to mettle much better. Also use flat colors, this is nonnegotiable. If you use satin it will have a somewhat glossy finish and the shininess will defeat the purpose of camouflage.
If you are painting something with moving parts like a gun or something else with moving parts. Completely disassemble the item “if you do not know how to do this than you shouldn’t be painting it than should you” cover the open ports and anything else you don’t want paint is “I left the safety on and taped the open area behind the trigger and the action bar lock.” Most people will want to tape the whole trigger assemble. After the base coat is applied reassemble the item “i.e. I put the barrel and action back on but left the bolt housing group out” and set the moving parts to their normal static position.
So let’s get this out of the way now
yes it is a real maverick 88 shotgun it fires 12 gauge rounds. I use it for defense but mostly hunting. no I don't trophy hunt I om nom nom what i kill
4 use brush “i.e. twigs, leaves, pine needles, sage” as a stencil. # note this will create a negative shadow. Pre stage your stencil where you want your negative shadow to appear on the object that your painting. On this it was about 2-4 in or 5 – 10 cm
5 remembering to go lightest to darkest I used rust-oleum camouflage olive drab remembering to stay at least 12in or 30cm “further the better but kind of wastes paint” dust the stencil. It may look as though you haven’t painted enough but remember that in camouflage less is more. Continue until all stencils are dusted.
6 remove the stencils and rotate them 180deg so that they are upside down and slightly off center of their previous location.
7using guess what rust-oleum camouflage black #on black you can go cheap just as long as you get flat or ultra-flat collars dust the stencils. This part is the hardest as the black tends to dominate all other colors.
8 let dry for about a half hour than flip over and repeat steps 4-7
And there you have it. Once this is complete you’re going to want to place it in a warm dry place for at least 24 hours. Some people use clear coat sealant, but I find it has a glossy and sometimes tacky feel to it. If you don’t use sealant however the paint will rub off slowly over time.

I live in Florida. We have the only NRA "A" rated governor.. It's a good place to live if you like guns. Personally I simply have one for practical defense, and target shooting. Still, most of Florida law only reflects National law. Not only that, The Mossberg 500 comes stock with a nickel, parkerized, or blue finish.. so at least it's a stock option. Lets face it, if someone is going to go into my home, look at my smoothed bore shotgun, and get pedantic about a blued finish.. I think I have bigger problems to worry about.
Still, nice paint job.
You should see the large loop going on my Marlin 336. That is going to be cool. May have to get some blanks to spin cock it.
