I didn't exactly plan for most of the things you described, I just thought of giving a warm light source that lands on both him and the sky behind.
Thanks so much! Maybe I shouldn't get so lazy with soft shading and start actually painting in shadows to give it a furred look. But that'll take more experiments and time to perfect.
