This was written as a companion piece to “Lost in the Progress”, and whereas Lost in the Progress is a lament to the things progress leaves behind, this one veers more towards whimsy and dark humour, putting across the same message, but in an absurdist tone instead of a didactic one. The piece had a number of influences, not the least of which was a delightfully sick and twisted song by the punk band The Dead Milkmen with the title: “Watching Scotty Die”.
