if you want to know what you should be seeing, I uploaded a normal colour render to my scraps here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9702186/
Yeah, second and last steriogram. I had always wondered if they work as an animation, so I tried this out. Its a giff, so you need to click on the image to get it to play. Or you can just look at this one frame and imagine it moving.
Anyway, back OT: yes, as it turns out, animated steriograms do work. But not with the same pattern, as I discovered. When you have the same pattern, then the 3D model ends up getting some weird effects which kind of look like ghosting, except it also fucks with your brain and the actual 3D image gets compromised. But when each frame has a different pattern, it's all good XD. Though it has a static-like quality to it, which while is less than ideal, is a fair enough trade off to get it to work.
So yeah. A quick little run cycle. I don't know if he's running away from cake, or towards cake... I just like cake and would like to think it holds some significance. Perhaps he's running off a cake. Yeah.
Ima gon get me some cake...
EDIT:
Mmm, .gif was probably a bad choice as I don't seem to have control over its playback speed. Got it playing nicely in photoshop, but I've looked at it across browsers and across computers and it seems to give a different result every time, sometimes way too fast, other times way too slow. If he is taking about three steps every second then its playing back at about what I told it to, any more or less and it's NQR. My apologies. The 3D isn't effected though, just the speed of the cycle.

heh, it did end up being a lot of work, but not because it's paricularily difficult in theory. If you have access to a 3D program, then you just need to render out a depth pass, make a tiling pattern, and then put both of them in a teriogram generator which does all the nasty maths for you. There are plenty on the web.
The work came from the damned 3d program being buggy, as well as dealing with multiple frames across multiple attempts. Was fun though, glad you like it XD. Thanks for the comment and fave.
just a quick question though, for you when you watch it, do the frames seem to be playing without delay? He should be running with about 3 foot plants a second, but when I watch it, he seems to be playing in fast forwards.

haha, awesome XD.
Did you have a moment when you sort of got it, but then lost it? But you know you saw something? I call that moment... the moment of inception.
BOOOOOOOOOOWNG!

hey thanks for the feedback man, I had been wondering XD
And yeah, I was actually thinking that it was pretty easy to see... Perhaps the eye is drawn twards the 'movement' of the model before its actually seen, and guides the eye? IDK, I couldnt really tell because I have done so many damned test renders I jsust kind of see them instandly now, wether its moving or not :p

heya XD... it's meant to be a 3D vision of this render:http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9702186/
It may be going fast for you... an incorrect playback speed was a concern of mine TBH. But that should really only effect the animation itself, not prevent the actual 3D image appearing, if that makes sense. I take it that you don't usually have issues with seeing magic eye?
For me at least, I found the moving image actually easier to see, because movement tends to direct focus/attention. But that may not be the case for everyone.

ha, don't worry about that, it's what all the cool kids doing these days.
And thanks XD. TBH, I didn't even know that they could be animated until I made this. Of course, afterwards I scanned youtube and discovered that people have made entire short films doing this, but still... science!
