Yep, this is the world that koori and Koorik live in!
This world is called "Gaen" by Koori and "Aziix" by Kooriks and Koorins.
World Funfacts:
* Gaen/Aziix is a little smaller than Earth.
* Gravity on Aziix is 8.69 m/s² or about 89% of Earth's gravity.
* The world's surface is mostly Ocean.
* Each season is 100 days, and there are 4 seasons in a year.
* There are no "months". In other words, dates are named by season and day #. (examples- Spring 48. Fall 82.)
* Koori/Koorik/Koorin are NOT the top of the food chain. There are many dangerous creatures on Gaen/Aziix. Some are bigger than houses!
Most Koori live on the lush East Continent.
Most Koorik live on the harsh West Continent.
Most Koorin live on the tropical Pae'oku Islands.
Koorik tend to have a few large cities, while Koori have several small villages and colonies!
Koorin are sort of nomadic and move between their islands living in small "clans".
"City" = pop. 1,000+
"Village" = pop. 500 - 1000
"Colony" = pop. 100 - 500
"Clan" = less than 100
A tropical volcanic environment with white sandy beaches and tropical forests.
The Pae'oku islands are 4 islands north of the West continent and are home to many kinds of unique wildlife including the Koorin.
The islands were created by an underwater volcano which became the island Elu. The islands connect to each other once a month when the tides are low enough. Eha connects to Elu, Elu connects to Eha and Eka, Eka connects to Elu and Eko, and Eko connects to Eka.
Each island is home to one Clan of Koorin at a time. The four clans are nomadic and cycle between the islands during different parts of the year.
* Ashnikoex- (Translated: City of Sand) (Population: about 2,500) Reference #1
A dry, arid, desert which meets the ocean. Palm-like trees and small bulbous desert plants are somewhat common.
Ashnikoex is the largest city in the west continent. It is a bustling labyrinth of narrow alleyways, large courtyards and impressive clay and stone architecture. It's easy to get lost a midst the tangled mass of walkways, stairs, bridges, archways, doorways, balconies and towers. Like most koorik cities, their main food resource is fishing. Small watercraft litters the beaches and surrounding ocean. Koori from the east continent sail here from Cliffside to trade goods, so it is also a decent trading port. Koori merchants selling their goods from covered stands or carts within the city is a somewhat common sight, however the population here is still mostly koorik.
* Hausiikoex- (Translated: City of Grass) (Population: about 1,400)
Arid, dusty scrubland which meets the ocean. A few large rocks jut out from the soil, and the ground is covered in short, scraggly bushes and other stranger plantlife. Large, thorny, acacia-like trees are common.
Hausikoex is the only koorik city on the west coast of the West continent, which is typically considered to be more dangerous. The architecture here is built with wood, stone and a mortar-like mud mixture called "Kak". The ocean waves here are large and unforgiving; unhindered by landmasses. The waves crash against the sharp, jagged rocks of the shoreline which makes fishing nearly impossible. However, Hausiikoex is known for it's great minds and intellectual achievements. They carefully lure large, carnivorous, whale-sized fish to beach themselves on the jagged shore. These creatures are their main export (as they are the only ones who provide it), which in turn provides funding for their second greatest export, medicine. Hausikoex is the location of several educational facilities for medical science. Their environment is home to unique plant life with many medical applications. During "The Glade Crisis", Hausikoex was a key player, racing to develop a cure to the fungal affliction. They were successful in creating a vaccine, but far too late.
* Faxikoex- (Translated: City of Rock) (Population: about 2,000)
Dry, rocky mountains with small, grassy plantlife and dark soil. Very few short, yellow, juniper like trees.
Faxikoex is the second largest city in the west continent and the only one specializing in fresh water fishing. The entire city is carved out of what was originally a system of naturally occurring caves in the face of a large mountain. The city hangs over a large river which exits into the ocean. They drop nets over balconies into the river in order to catch fish. Then they keep the fish in large naturally occurring cave ponds where they live and remain fresh until needed. Faxikoex's main export is minerals and gems which they collect from the caves, usually while carving out new structures.
* Yehlkoex- (Translated: City of Ice) (Population: about 1,000)
Rocky arctic tundra that meets the ocean with an icy shore and many ice floes. A lot of snow and very little plantlife during most of the year.
Yehlkoex is the smallest city in the west continent and is almost entirely populated by a subspecies of "Tundra Koorik". Tundra koorik live in round stone homes near the shore and fish for food through holes in the ice. Their main export is oil harvested from the strange blubbery ocean life that dwells in the icy waters.
* West Mountain Colony- (Population: about 360)
Dry, rocky mountains which meet the ocean at a pebble beach. Small, grassy plantlife and dark soil. Very few short, yellow, juniper like trees.
A tent colony founded by koori with permission from the Faxikoex triiahrx (leaders sort of).
West Mountain Colony was originally founded as a scientific field study base in order for koori to explore and research the harsh environments of the West Continent. It has since then become a valuable trade port, supplying the lower West Continent with goods from the East in exchange for goods of their own. Due to the nature of this, the population is very diverse with almost equal amounts of koori and koorik.
* Linliix- (Translated: Rest Intersection) (Population: about 50)
Arid, dusty scrubland. A few large rocks jut out from the soil, and the ground is covered in short, scraggly bushes and tall, yellowed grass. Large, thorny, acacia-like trees are somewhat common.
A small crossroad settlement existing solely as a stop for weary travelers. Nothing more than a few tents, a weathered Inn/diner, and a bathing pond all surrounded by an old, wooden wall.
* Yungrex- (Translated: Blood Outcasts) (Population: 116)
A dry, arid, desert which meets the ocean and is bordered by scrubland. A few large rocks jut out from the soil, and the ground is covered in short, scraggly bushes. Large, thorny, acacia-like trees are somewhat common.
The Yungrex are a group mostly made up of petty thieves, sexual deviants, eggnappers, the mentally insane, addicts, murderers and those with otherwise violent or dangerous tendencies.
Despite being such violent, despicable and otherwise unpleasant individuals, they don't have much hope to survive in the wilds of the west continent.
It's much easier to kill a fellow koorik than it is to kill two story monsters. In fact, without the vast "strength in numbers" that living in the cities provide,
these terrible individuals are no more than socially inept snacks waiting to happen.
In their desperation, the Yungrex colony was established. Koorik outcasts from all four great cities (as well as a few runaways, individuals in hiding, and escaped convicts from other races)
dwell here and work together.
In an attempt to make up for their lack in numbers, they try to look as colorful, shocking and intimidating to the indigenous wildlife as possible.
Painting themselves with bright colored dyed and inks in confusing and grotesque patterns, decorating themselves with the teeth and bones of scavenged carrion,
and/or carrying large and terrifying (but otherwise, mostly useless) weapons of supposed brutality.
Surprisingly, it works rather well. Most larger predators leave them alone. Which is good, because if anything were to actually attack them, they'd be screwed.
* Cliffside Village- (Population: about 980)
Breezy, green fields meet the ocean in a downward decline of large cliff "steps". Small leafy trees are somewhat common.
The largest trade and port city in the East Continent (and possibly all of Gaen). It is a bustling city with a diverse population of all races. Large warehouses and docks surrounded by various sea vessels line the shore at the bottom of the cliffs.
Business boomed in Cliffside after the "Glade Crisis". The city exploded with desperate merchants, traders and entrepreneurs all trying to relocate their business after the complete fall of the largest trade and port town at the time, Jungle Village.
Many took advantage of the situation and Cliffside became the new largest port and trade town, larger than Jungle Village ever was. New ship routes were established from Cliffside and goods and merchandise from the jungles of the east continent became hot commodities due to their sudden decrease in availability. Of course, tradesmen saw this opportunity as well, hiring teams of brave individuals to venture into the jungles to retrieve these goods which are sold in high-end Cliffside markets. To this day, Cliffside is the hottest place to shop, sell, or trade any and all goods. And the first location of choice for anyone trying to make a buck.
* North Village- (Population: about 890)
Rocky, hilly terrain with rich, dark soil covered with moss and lichen. Surrounded by large evergreen-looking trees on all sides. Snowpeaked mountains can be seen on the horizon. Snows heavily in the winter.
*Ironwood Village- (Population: about 720)
Rocky, flat tundra with hard, icy soil covered with moss and lichen. Massively large redwood-looking trees with wide branches dot the landscape. shallow fjords weave throughout. Snowpeaked mountains can be seen on the horizon. Snows heavily half the year.
* Jungle Village- (Population: less than 20. Previously: about 900)
Hot, humid rainforest densely filled with diverse plantlife. At night, the jungle glows faintly with phosphorescent flowers and fungi.
* Westwood Colony- (Population: about 330)
Grassy fields meet the shady forest's edge. Pleasantly temperate weather. A cool breeze blows in from over Landeye Lake to the Northeast.
* Northwood Colony- (Population: about 300)
Grassy fields meet the shady forest's edge. Pleasantly temperate weather. A cool breeze blows in from over Landeye Lake to the North.
* Eastwood Colony- (Population: about 300)
Grassy fields meet the shady forest's edge alongside a small freshwater lake. Pleasantly temperate weather. A cool breeze blows in from over Landeye Lake to the Northwest.
* Marsh Colony- (Population: about 480)
Humid marshes surrounded by large, drooping trees growing from the shallow waters. Soft grass and moss coat the ground and trunks of the trees.
* Glade Colony- (Population: less than 50. Previously: about 400)
Hot, humid rainforest densely filled with diverse plant life. A swift moving river curls it's way through the dense foliage. At night, the jungle glows faintly with phosphorescent flowers and fungi.
* Treetop Colony- (Population: 0 Previously: about 300)
Hot, humid rainforest densely filled with diverse plant life. The air reeks with the stale stench of rot and litter is scattered on the forest floor. At night, the jungle glows faintly with phosphorescent flowers and fungi.
* Highpass Colony- (Population: about 400)
Humid swampland meets grassy fields surrounded by tall, broad trees covered in hanging moss. Soft grass and moss coat the ground and trunks of the trees.
* Greenfield Colony- (Population: about 280)
Green, hilly fields alongside a river's edge. Tall grass and shrubs make up most of the plant life. Tall, bushy trees are somewhat common. The soil is dark and reddish and littered with rocks.
* Rockfield Colony- (Population: about 280)
Hilly fields dotted with large boulders and rocky outcroppings meets the shore of Axehead Lake. Tall grass and shrubs make up most of the plantlife. Tall, bushy trees are somewhat common. The soil is dark and reddish and littered with rocks. Mountains can be seen on the horizon. Snows lightly in the Winter.
* Bora Lake Colony- (Population: about 400)
Grassy fields dotted with leafy trees and surrounded on all sides by water; the ocean, rivers, and Bora Lake. Snow peaked mountains can be seen on the horizon on the lake's opposite shore.
* Apex Colony- (Population: about 230)
Dry, rocky fields with green, spongy ground cover. Tall, narrow, pillar-like rock formations tower over the landscape. Some are the size of small mountains. Moss surrounds the base of each. A small, peaceful lake is nestled close to the center.
* Crossroad Colony- (Population: about 150)
Green, hilly fields. Tall grass and shrubs make up most of the plant life. Tall, bushy trees are somewhat common. The soil is dark and reddish and littered with rocks.
