This is a Super Meat Boy plush I've been working on for a friend of mine. It's my very first time crocheting with my own pattern, and I'm actually fairly happy with the way it's turning out so far. Instead of changing colors, using felt, or crocheting the parts separate, I actually used my cross-stitch knowledge to cross-stitch the eyes and mouth on with yarn. I also crocheted each of the 6 sides individually (periodically measuring to make sure all of them were the same dimensions) then weaved them all together. Stuffing it was the hardest part, because I found out real quick it wasn't going to hold its shape very well. With my friend's OK, i cut out pieces of cardboard to place on the four outer sides to keep its shape. (If anyone has some tips for other ways to make something like this keep its shape without that, let me know!) I still have to add the arms and legs, but I'm super happy how this is turning out!
