Bridge group shot #2 - Manchester mini meet, January 2013
Another shot of the suiters on the Piccadilly station bridge from a different angle.
There was just something about this one I liked. I think the angle made a nice feature of the all those hard lines from the bridge and suspension wires and the building in the background. I find them a bit in your face when shot head on

I almost got the 18-55 too but Jessops where doing the D5100 with the 18-105 kit lens which I figured might be a bit more versatile for this kind of stuff. Shame they went bust though :( I only got mine in November and I'm still finding my way around it.
Some nice shots you have there :)

I bought a 50mm F1.8 with mine. It's got no image stabilisation or auto focus but it's a lovely lens to use. You get a nice shallow depth of field and it's brilliant for portrait stuff but not so good in a dynamic environment like at a meet. You have to be pretty quick at focusing for that stuff.
I shot these on the nifty 50 with a nice wide aperture. It's lovely for low light stuff too

I'd have let you have a play with it but it won't fit your camera. I'd used an SLR but never a DSLR until November. I bought a few rolls of 35mm film last year and took my old SLR on holiday with me and I'd got a 50mm on that and it was a dream to shoot with so that's what made me decide to upgrade from my Fuji HS-20 bridge camera and get a DSLR
