This is my new favorite song I've written... I think.
Things to listen for:
1. Acapela. I love doing this kind of thing. You're hearing about a dozen of my voice layered over itself over and over.
2. Super Bass. Hear those very low notes? I sang those, then cranked them down a full octave through the power of technology.
3. Meter change. I rarely do this, but there's a little 6/8 section in the middle and at the end. Nifty eh?
Lyrics:
Lift your swords and find a heart to run it through
The blade is cold. It needs a pulse to silence
We have won, but now the dead are left to you
to bury deep. The hallowed ground inside us.
It is here.
When I open up my mouth to try and let the creature out
I am alone.
Alone.
Give in one time, give in one time, forever.
Ah, to be lost at sea.
To put down the lights on autumn nights,
To wish upon a winter star
to know inside that you’re alive and that your freedom’s real
and you’re alone.
Alone.
Hate is too strong an emotion to feel for a
person who’s given you reason to steal and to
lie and to cheat and to beg at the feet of a...
Lift your swords, it is late I have to go.
Send me home with their sharp procession.
Whisper soft, not to startle me as I
am drained of that which trapped me on this island.
See it pool.
When this hard uncaring lump finds there’s nothing left to pump
I’ll be alone.
Alone.
Ooh.
SPECIAL ICON for this song.

Damn you hit on the head and struck gold.
Your rendition of It's Raining is one of my favorites
To see more of that flavor is great enough
in of itself couple that with the fact that these
are YOUR lyrics. Be proud, you have produced
perfectly poignant magic in this!
And indeed it evokes the same kind of vivid
imagery that makes Lay Waste such a
beautiful and haunting piece

Musical coyote buddy, you've truly outdone yourself! This is fantastic, beautiful, and completely inspiring, the whole time I was listening to it, I kept thinking of how I could draw out this emotion in a picture <3
When do you think I can get it on iTunes or something like it? :3

Wonderful song, your music is quite intricate and it enhances the already striking lyrics. Being the ardent renassancist I am, I am a wee bit disappointed at the lack of word painting in some places, like 'ring' and alone - though that may just be me, heh. Maybe you're trying to say that one never really alone even though your existence, joys and pains can only be experienced by one's self. Forgetting that, it's wonderful! I adore songs that express those feelings that are most intimate in nature, those that sequester themselves from public notice; the unspoken ones that even the best of us (barring those who truly do love others as they do themselves) experience, that unspeakable misery of lonesomeness.
WELL there is a bit of... Anti... word painting? I had the idea of having very strong words like Hate and cheat and steal, and heavy content like death and blood and all that cool stuff but have it coupled with an oddly soothing, unaffected bit of music.
There are indeed moments where the two match, specifically I love the "Ah, to be lost at sea". That's the most relieved chord I could think of in that context.
I spend a lot of time in my own head, as many people with heads do, and yeah it's about introspection. Sense of self. But the reason I like this thing as much as I do is that it's ambiguous. I can't really say it's about ANYTHING in particular.
I like your interpretation though. Thank you for listening and reading. I always appreciate your feedback.
The next thing I'll post (also acapela) has a bit more word painting. And it's weird as all hell :D
