I've noticed this a lot lately.
Someone could say one of the most hilarious/awesome/interesting things ever to a "popufur" and they wouldn't care.
Oh no, but if that popufur got told the same exact thing by someone with a larger audience, then it gets noticed. :v
Not to say this has happened to me. I get way too nervous around people who's talents I respect. (And I don't often get nervous!) But I see it happen all the time and it's just.... weird.
I know I'm not popular, but at least I try to respond to everyone I can. (not always though... I often clear comments from my ipod and forget to check them later on my pc) ;p
anyways... just a sloppy doodle in between assignments I currently have piled on me. I think you guys can piece together the general idea.

You realize that's just how people work? Like one of the commenters above me pointed out, people you label as "popufur" are bombarded on every online location, and oftentimes in real life by people who think they know who they are and try desperately to know them because of their status. But really people are just people. At the end of the day, some of them are pieces of shit, and others are really great, the same can be said for anyone on any level of Internet or real life popularity. Not everyone gets along with everyone else, interests differ, hobbies don't always line up, and sometimes a persons personality just doesn't mesh well for no reason at all. It's not so easily fit into a page view for page view model, and focusing on that with anyone popular or not is poisonous to relationships.
I dunno, I've got good friends with and without Internet popularity ad at varying levels and mediums of talent artistic or otherwise, and all anyone really wants is some recognition for who they are, not what they can do for you. Making friends with anyone doesn't start with what you think their label is, or assuming you know what they think of you.

Oh I've always known that people are just people, and often I notice that they don't even want people to talk about their art with them! (Unless they bring it up)
I'm talking about how some furs who are, well, clearly higher up on the popularity charts think that being internet famous gives them the right to be awful people.
And like I said before, I'm aiming this at the furs who will ONLY talk to other furs that are well known, because they think it makes them both look better.
I have a couple of good examples of people who do this, but to give the example, I would have to say the names of the people who are doing it, which I would honestly not like to do ;p

Let's not forget that the popular ones are generally only popular here because they either draw porn or commission a lot of porn. o.o I've noticed that quite well. But some popular types are not really like that given I'm no way at all popular and I have a number of friends who are 'popufurs'... but I do see your point too. Sadly it's very easy to get dismissed as a 'creeper' or 'fake'. Even when you just say hello. lol
When it comes to the more popular people, I tend to just look at the art and don't bother commenting because I figure it'll just get lost in the tide of messages or they just will pass me off. So Unless I have something witty to say, I pass. I've noticed for the people that aren't massively popular, They will talk back and very open to making friendships for the most part and I'd rather have that then 'Know someone "famous".
