Sorry for another technical post, but Id otherwise wouldnt have anything to post anything here until the final product, and lately, As I have a bad habit of slowing down too much or nearly never finishing anything, Id rather have others see what I am upto.
Its been a long while since I last experimented with Blender fur, around 2 years ago. My last attempt was when back, slightly before EF16, with my, now looking back, cringe worthy attempt at 3D Head and a Badge: http://www.furaffinity.net/full/4378297/ and http://www.furaffinity.net/full/4379181/
In anycase, upped the ante and did some small experimentation here and there and this is what I can do so far.
This however is First part of 5, as this is just the start for the base-fur system. Next Fur components after this is done would be will be the fluff, the ear fluff, hair, and detail (eyebrow, chin etc)
As a test, I had made the entire base-texture for the head black to see If id detect any " loose parts of the undercoat", and so far I have not spotted any other sports than the missed spots on the eyelids/ears,nose. These undoubtably will be the most difficult parts.
While this also seems think enough, I think I also have to go through and optimize some of it as to not use so many darn fur strands (600 children). Each render took upto 40 seconds to render with the strand shading on blender render at full HD.
