This is something I'm working on that was slightly inspired by the theme to 'Terminator', hence its name. (Having not watched 'Terminator' in years I can't remember how its music goes, to be honest.) It's meant to convey a sense of...well, a post-apocalyptic landscape, treading through the debris of civilisation, I think.
It starts with a solo piano in A minor, then is joined by a violin. Together they segue into A major, the piano carrying the same rhythm throughout. At the moment the piece ends on a C#7 chord, ready to fall into F# minor. The piano's part (particularly the bass rhythm) is somewhat repetitive, but it gives a foundation for the other instruments to build on.
This is in the nature of an experiment for me, as I'm attempting to break the usual strict ABA[CA] form that I usually write in. Also, I'm attempting to involve more instruments to give it a more orchestral feel. A composer friend in Christchurch is helping me with this; he's written a number of short orchestral pieces, including music for a game, so he knows how to bring instruments together. I'm looking forward to finishing this piece.

Nice. I like its rhythm and the dissonance play before the violin comes in, and the subtle volume variations on the piano score are a nice touch. As someone who listened to this using headphones, I found the violin a little too loud and overpowering when it first came in - maybe reducing its volume a bit would be an idea. Sounds promising.
