So sweet! You caught that derpy-happy shepherd pup expression perfectly! The directions in which the fur is growing and the skin folds look great, too. You might want to adjust the reflections in the foreground (under the puppy's paws and the trainer's shoes) if this piece is for a portfolio. Maybe add some more shadow to the puppy's left back leg and belly, as well. I'd also be curious to see how the finished product would look if you blurred the bg a bit more if you aren't going to add the reflections of the man and the post. Overall, really awesome piece!

I agree with this critique :) the only thing I'd add, the most important thing, is some kind of highlight or reflected light on the puppy's muzzle to make it contrast against the leg. they blend together from a distance. :)
