A picture of my Soviet and DDR Militaria collection, featuring a SVT-40 and Ak-47 Bayonet, and slightly out of the picture is a medal for the cleanup of Chernobyl and Veteran of Labour in it's original box, with original paper.

Yes, I am quite aware of this, a quite unfortunate turn of events.. though, the ones you speak of are quite rare from what I recall. Albeit I am by far more concerned for fakes when dealing with German militaria, which I also do. Still debating on whether to throw up that collection or not..
Hmm.. My mistake, then. Though, I can certainly agree ex-soviet states are very good places to get ahold of Soviet militaria from, though. Never been there myself, but I know at least one of the places I buy from regularly makes trip to Russia; Though, Soviet militaria/DDR isn't a area I deal with anymore, though.
I would be lying if I said my jaw didn't drop at those words.. The SS is a area I would very much like to expand into, though, the only thing my dealer seems to be able to get their hands on is service medals. Knights cross and several other iron crosses truely makes me jealous, though; Regardless of my area of specialty. I can only hope you will upload a few pictures of the beauties.
Well, I do suppose it counts in where you buy it from and such; Soviet militaria and DDR are quite cheap compared to German WW2, and you are much less likely to get replicas or suchlike when dealing with the Soviet bloc. Though, visit militaria fairs, surplus stores and antiquity stores, and you should be able to find quite a bit of Soviet/DDR militaria very cheap, many of the things I had in Soviet collection was things I had purchased for less than 20 bucks, usually whole groups as well.
yeah the problem is i'm in britain and not America, we don't have fairs like those here, and if we do they're of past british ventures and not of foreign countries lol which sucks XD
oh also on another note, have you had any other additions to this collection since posting this pic?

This particular collection I sold off last year I believe it was, only have the service medals, a visor cap and the Chernobyl Liquidation medal left. Gonna shift my focus over to my German collection instead, so I needed the space and cash. Though, I am pretty sure you Brits also have quite a bit of fairs from what i've seen, pretty sure i've also heard of a few dealers over there.
ah that sucks, but best of luck with the german collection haha
I've found none in my area and the only decent places/dealers I've found are on Ebay but again its hard to tell if they are authentic or not through ebay, however I did recently buy a soviet great coat which was apparently from storage in bulgaria or something... 25 years its been there haha... first step to getting somewhere i guess...

Thanks, hopefully it'll grow as big as the Soviet one was, some day..
And yeah, finding Soviet stuff that has been sitting in storage for years and years isn't uncommon at all.
Finally, here is a site dealing in militaria, they ship worldwide and are serious dealers; http://www.greatmilitaria.com/
