This is where the main inspiration for my F20A3 Stalker came from --- NAMCO's XFA-27. When I first came upon it in Ace Combat 2's "Extra Mode", my first thought was, "Why haven't I heard of this aircraft before!?"
It was the most awesome fighter design I have ever seen, before OR since. Not only were it's performance stats totally off the scale, but it was also the only fighter in Ace Combat 2 that could fire more than two missiles in rapid succession (4, to be exact).
Several years later, a friend if mine (named Arie, whom I've mentioned before) told me that he heard from a friend that the XFA-27 was a REAL experimental aircraft, intended to eventually replace the F-22. As he was an ex-Navy man with lots of military experience, I believed him... but as it turns out, the XFA-27 really is totally fictional.
All figures in this datasheet are my own estimates. Compare this to the data on my own F20A3 Stalker --- their capabilities are not too far apart!
I would have drawn a 3-view of the XFA-27, but it is rather pointless given that some already exist on the Internet. (I personally prefer to create never-before-seen 3-views, such as the one I posted on FA of the Mistubishi F1-X)
Disclaimer: I do not own NAMCO, or the XFA-27.

Thanks, though bear in mind that this datasheet is unofficial --- it contains a mixture of obvious and logical traits, and estimates from my own best judgment.
Oh, and be sure to thank NAMCO for not releasing ANY accurate technical data on the XFA-27 whatsoever, despite all the hard work that they obviously put into designing it. *grumble, grumble*

omg... you have just cost me a lot of money *is going to buy the whole series*
also, apperentally in Ace Combat X the XFA-27 is brought back... AND ITS CUSTOMIZABLE... i think thats awesome!
great work man! putting stats like this to a 'fictional' aircraft is damned difficult, great job, and my wallet hates you

It WAS pretty tricky, but there were enough obvious visual and performance cues to determine how large the XFA-27 is, and how it flies and fights. From there, estimating the rest of it's attributes is like clockwork.
The price is pretty damn steep, but in Ace Combat 2 it cost several times the price of the F-22, and considering that the F-22 costs more than a third of a BILLION dollars, the XFA-27 would obviously well over $1 Billion. Hey, you get to fly a 6th-gen fighter today in the XFA-27 before the 5th-gen is even halfway complete, so quit your belly-aching!
I'm also aware of Ace Combat X, and the XFA-27's inclusion in it --- but I don't like the PSP's teeny-tiny monitor and controls pad, or the 2-hour battery supply. Or the fact that I would have to spend another $300+ just to be able to play ONE Ace Combat game...
