I commissioned
Hoot for this fun little piece. Thank you, Hootster!
Jessi, as I've mentioned before, is a clydesdale, which is a breed of big, strong, powerfully-built draft horses. Jessi has a bit of a struggle now and then reconciling that with her desire to be more of a girly girl. When I described the character to Hoot, she immediately came up with the awesome idea to show her as a Rosie the Riveter figure!
I'm just tickled by this idea! Not only is it adorable, it also lets Jessi acknowledge her strength and agency without giving up her chosen identity. That analysis might be a little heavy for a random little picture like this, but I think it fits and is very cool. ^^

For sure! I was really pleased to see this one come in, both for how lovely the piece itself is, but also for the idea. This never even occurred to me, but it's a really awesome fit!
I'm not so sure the women of the day would have enjoyed being compared to horses, but it certainly would have been interesting! ^_~
