this is a somewhat rare native orchid called the Showy lady slipper this is in a marshy woodland. It can be locally abundant this site had a few hundred but there are rumored places where they number int he thousands. I'm just kinda proud of this photo for some reason. These can be grown in the garden provided you give them lights have rich soil and moisture all the time otherwise do not ever dig these plants up! They can be bought from sellers in orchid clubs or reputable nurseries uncaring gardeners have pushed many plants to near extinction.
