Fleet Fancy, normally known as Flee, is a pony that is purely an optimist and utterly inept. Her mistakes pile up aplenty because of her lack of focus, but she takes whatever misfortunes come with a smile and a shrug.
Though here she appears to be an earth pony, it's hard to pin down an accurate depiction of Flee, because a powerful and ancient curse she placed upon herself in a life long past causes her shape, color, and (on very rare occasions) even gender to suddenly change into a different state if at any time she is unobserved by a living being.
This uncontrollable change in state is what causes her to be unable to form meaningful relationships with others; every time she 'shifts', her memories become blanked and fuzzy, and it is almost as though a reset button was pressed for her somewhere.

Flee is adoringly affectionate of others, stranger or familiar, and so even with her handicap she is tolerated by a large number of ponies. Though attempts to make her aware of her predicament always end in failure, Fleet Fancy is harmless enough and more than friendly enough to keep around, and over long periods of time she retains portions of memories that would otherwise have been lost. Because the magical energy binding Flee is so powerful, there is a chance that extremely unnatural things can occur around her; water may freeze suddenly or not flow downhill, candles and lanterns may flicker with odd colors or simply go out, and there is the potential for her to simply vanish for no discernible reason for an inestimable about of time.

Fleet Fancy's cutie mark was something else originally, but now it is simply a runic symbol for her curse.



The Origin of Fleet Fancy:

Long ago, almost a hundred years, there lived a unicorn in Canterlot who went by the name of Lumelee. Her demeanor was that of a braggart and an ambitious competitor, challenging others to test her with trials of magic, and easily succeeding. She would have been a prize pupil at the very school where Twilight would train a century later had she not had an extreme distaste for authority and a nasty streak of physically or magically abusing other students. Eventually, Lumelee was sent out from the school on the grounds that her ambitions and competitiveness were a danger to others and to herself... and since that moment, Lumelee has had a grudge against other magic-using ponies.

"I'll show them REAL ambition," she said as she began her own studies into unicorn magic. Her attempts at showing off to others how powerful she could be turned instead into a study of how to make herself even more powerful, and eventually to how to turn that power on others.

Over time, her ambitions became more introverted, and Lumelee, now calling herself Lady Lume, began seeking ways to prolong her own life so as to extend her time on this world to perfect her magics..... though the attempts at such caused her to accidentally curse herself. Now she is forever trapped in an endless cycle of resetting her existence, becoming the erratic and subconsciously powerful pony known as Fleet Fancy.

Perhaps this story ended happily, for now the once evil and hateful pony Lumelee has become a kind and adoring mare that seeks only happiness.
