It is sometime after the end of a monsoon thunderstorm. Rising water levels and raging currents in the monsoon canals force this young Reticulated Python to seek refuge on higher ground, or at least on the railings along the canal.
It also seemed to be moulting. Wrapped around it is a thin clear membrane, probably its old skin.
It also stares at me very intently.
