Okay, this is a tricky one, because I don't want to sound like a douche ;)
The she-wolf gets a lot of lovely comments for being cute and sexy (yay! :) )
but since the pyjama show-off the line between artist and character has blurred more than ever and I've been getting a lot of lovely comments about my sex-appeal. Now I don't want anyone to get this wrong! Unless we go into a big debate about gender stereotypes and equality I would say that girls had worse fates than an internet fandom being convinced they are cute and sexy. I can live with that! ;)
But it did made me giggle a bit, because most of you just assume that I look like my fursona (without the ears and tail. probably. maybe. ..or with them?) when there is absolutely no proof or evidence anywhere that even goes so far as to confirm my gender. I might be a sloppy 40-something year old with weird kinks and a passion for drawing naked girls. WHO KNOWS!!
Don't get me wrong guys, your comments make me super happy ;) I just wanted to share the little laugh I had about the topic!
Oh, side note: while I absolutely love drawing fat people.. OH GOD CREEPY GUY WAS CREEPY TO DRAW! UGH! BLERGH! I'm going to rinse my eyes with soap now. Ew.
[This will be moved to scraps soon, I just wanted to share the joke]

Way past late comment but I like the discussion and I'm never active anymore.
I actually know someone who years ago drew herself as a cute fursona that she felt was better looking then herself. After she realized she was attractive she changed and now she's paid to go to conventions and cosplay characters from video games or anime, has a mass following... And chances are you've probably even heard of her lol. But I personally still think she is far more attractive when she isn't trying so hard and stressing herself out just to get another twitch follower.
I've had many enjoyable conversations with women with regard to what is considered attractive and men aren't spared societies shallowness neither, it's just some of us have an easier time not giving a fuck.

It's just a bit messed up, really, but as I said in the post below, the meme thing of tracing your real body to embrace reality and whatnot means pretty much posting naked pictures to strangers.
I think in total I'm just in a pretty comfortable place drawing all these anatomically incorrect thin girls stretching for everyone's enjoyment.

"Oh my god Cinn you look so.. different! ..Interesting!"
See this whole thing that was around a while ago of tracing a real life picture of you and putting your fursona on top with those proportions looked pretty cool but it also does mean getting pretty much naked "in front of" an entire fandom. Um. Yeah. Maybe another time.

Exactly, that's why this ref sheet thing was so fascinating! I admit it, I loved seeing the results, simply to see the actual person behind it and some of the pictures were absolutely lovely, I have to say. Far more interesting to look at than their normal stuff. BUT.. ;) I still feel very comfortable with nobody knowing me, thank you very much ;)

                    *gets out the soapbox*
This sort of thing is hardly new and by far not unique to furry. Any that play SL know this and any chat room, BBS, dating site, community bulletin board or phone pick up thingie throughout the ages for that matter know it.
I'm going to add this and it's likely to get me odd looks or some nastygrams too. Furry isn't all that weird. All this behavior folks are pointing at has been there long before and is also outside the fandom.
To me getting upset that the character doesn't physically match RL is as stupid as worrying that whatever cartoon isn't real life or that the voice actors aren't really their characters
I have been through this a long time, even before the fandom was "officially" about. I have been meeting folks from BBS and mucks and at cons and such for ages.
I have never been disappointed that somebody I met wasn't the character, or now days avatar, or fursona they create. (Closest would be Doug Winger. Great guy. He's just much quieter RL than what you expect.)
I think it well known that mentally and in heart all my avatars/characters (Male, female or TG) are me, but in looks only my fursona is close. Many still draw him skinny. I'm not sure why :)
In this day and age, more and more, this sort of thing really just shouldn't matter. There are exceptions but over all, meh
*gets slowly down and hobbles off*

Oh I totally agree. I don't think that all the weirdos of the world got scooped up and dropped in the furry sand-pit. But I also think that just because neighbour A is kidnapping the postman and chopping him into little pieces, it doesn't make neighbour B less creepy for doing the same thing ;) (I compare irrational expectations and chopping up people simply because every comparison gets better when there is blood and knifes involved.)
I don't think anyone would really get upset about anyone's real life looks, or if they did I wouldn't really care, but I just thought it was funny with how much sincerity people posted these comments. I don't know if they were doing it consciously or even thought about the impossibility of making me a compliment on my actual looks in pyjamas. And of course these things have always been around and will always be around, it's what people do, but I do admit that it doesn't really get old to joke a bit about it ;)

Actually, I've been assuming you're a small, yet highly intelligent Dachshund named Kevin.
Also, I love the fact that even though my guess at the spelling of dachshund was only off by that I put an s before the c, google spelling tried to correct it as Deutschland. Even though it does recognise dachshund.
Google has issues.
But yeah, intelligent dachshund named Kevin camp here.

In my next life I do want to be a small yet highly intelligent Dachshund named Kevin!!
Since a dog hasn't much to do all day I could just run around, observe people and then save their day by reminding them of that super important thing they forgot or bringing them the highly valuable somethign they left on the bus. I could also probably ride the bus for free!

Well, my impression has always been that almost all furries want to create an avatar that represents how they would like to be, for the ego's sake. I've said it before and I'll say it again; its nothing to take seriously. Life is tough and full of misery, there is no point in making a fuss over what people do in there spare time to liven things up.

I don't think anyone fusses (this is coming up several times. I'm not sure if people maybe misinterpret the intention here?)
If anything it's a pretty nice pastime.
I'm not with you on the tough life full of misery though. Woah, seriously. You're on a website full of brightly coloured fuzzy porn and little ponies. I'm not sure life here is very tough

Mine is that you are a great artist with a great knack for all kinds of appealing characters regardless of your real physical appearance. Whether you are a drop dead gorgeous or cute lady or a homely out of shape man... Or a well built and possibly handsome man or homely lady. You are still a great artist.

I really really enjoyed that comment. First of all thanks for the lovely feedback, and I'm glad you went through all scenarios here. I didn't even consider I could be a drop dead gorgeous womanizer!! Sometimes I'm pretty gender focused.
This is definitely good new input, I'm enjoying the thought :) New self-image incoming! Thank you!

You could kick the gender focus in the crotch and then describe your irl self as a gorgeous woman with stupendous breasts only matched by your enormous throbbing cock and then when questioned about it... remind them that this is furry and the internet and enjoy the art instead of the person behind it ;P
If the conversation is good, that is a wonderful thing but knowing everything about the artist by prying and playing twenty questions or being so focused on what the person behind the art looks like is kind of defeatist in the first place since we're here first and foremost for the skill. People may laugh at that comment going but look at all this horrible stick figure shit and diaper and scat and insert random deplorable fetish here... but they forget that that comment goes for the artists like yourself, or kaji, talbain, strype... we have a fuckton of talent here.

I'd imagine the main reason people don't believe your some creepy fat guy is because you don't get offended when people hint, guess, or insult you might be otherwise. I'd think that if this was purely an escape fantasy for you that you'd do all you could to defend the illusion. Being able to take insult and the like show confidence.

Fair point, the amount of times I joke about being a fat old guy does give a hint. I think I'll go with what was stated earlier and from now on be a very appealing hot young bloke. *strokes the perfect looking 3-days-stubble and gives some confident yet cute eye-brow movements to bystanders*

And thus it was all the pretty people will flock to you. You are truly one of the beautiful people. All the woman will be hanging over you and you'll have to beat them away with sticks.
Thus is the internet though we get to know someone's personality, or at least the one they display, not their body. However people who are confident tend to not have an avatar who is an illusion. Even so though people tend to make some slight alterations.
