It look very realistic and as allways there's so many details if you just look close enough. It will be really fun to see what sort of action we'll see outside these alley doors in the future.

See, this is why I could never be an artist. I'd be so happy with every little detail I drew I'd never be ABLE to draw a character on top of that and cover any of it up.

On the other hand... looking at all the objects in there just makes the imagination run wild about what they could be used for. :)

Thats why I made myself a lightbox, so I can draw the background on one sheet of paper and the characters on other :D

I never thought about that. Too much detail on the background draws the eyes away from the characters.

Though, where do you get your inspiration?

Well, its not that much "draw away" as simply getting the character lost in the sea of linework.
And my inspirations for these mostly come from my head, I like creating new worlds that have their own life in them.

Well, on lineart at least. If it was colored, I'm sure the details wouldn't draw the eyes away as much. Though, the usual content of what the characters are doing tends to keep the eyes focused on the characters as well. ;p I think I'm one of the few who enjoys both the smut and your fine backgrounds.


So all from your mind. Thats pretty amazing. When to do brick, plaster, or cobblestone, and the right linework and shading to get the texture and effects right. You've been doing this for how many years?

Well I started drawing in 2003, but I got more serious with it in 2006.

And been keeping at it. Thats the big thing that helps. No denying.
