being "helpful" by pointing out peoples mistakes in public is rarely seen as being "helpful" it litterally incites more rage than you coming across as being clever and smart. If you are going to correct an artist's grammar/spelling etc, its better served in notes where you might actually get genuine thanks for your help.
Seriously people. I don't even know why I have to have these conversations with you.
Its not clever, its being an peenwack.

The problem sometimes is the more you tell people online what annoys you, the more people tend to purposefully do the thing that annoys you to try and be clever :( It's pretty sad
On the other side, there's the people who are afraid to point out mistakes, even in private, for fear of upsetting someone.
The key message of the pic is this: It isn't that you're correcting someone's grammar and spelling, it's WHERE and HOW you're correcting it. Saying it via a private note is just more polite than shouting out the error in a public forum like FA or Facebook or something similar. I will have to remember this in the future :) *Hugs*

For some reason it does feel as if we all have been degraded socially since the obsession with 100 percent correct spelling.
Instead of making compelling arguments we merely try to find 1 spelling error and be a dick about it.
Truly one of the most annoying.things of this day and age.
(of course with the spelling like awr gijurl y da sklz zo bd n staff it is completely justified. But minor things lett em be, right?)

see i dont like doing that because i have litterally seen instances where the owner of the page is accused of "hiding" criticisms etc, and often times people are seen as childish when they hide said comment, because no-one but the artist and the commenter knows what was said depending on how long it was left unhidden, i pride myself in having an "uncensored" comment page for the mere fear of being accused of hiding something.
On that front, I'll half agree. I try not to use the hide-comment button, but when I do, it's justified. There are some cases where hiding the comment (and thus declawing the troll who's trying to start a flamewar) is the best thing you can do. Only time I've ever used it was when someone made a... somewhat NSFW comment about one of my characters on a submission I've since deleted. He's still the only entry in my FA block list.
That said, I do use the "hide comment" button on my own comments... usually when I realise I've misspelled something or what I've said (while accurate) could be very twisted and misconstrued. I guess that's a bit of a double standard...
