I really should make this smaller so it's harder to see how craptastic it is.
My scanner scanned this red, so it took a lot of fucking around to get it more normal. I didn't bother to clean this up at all because my tablet is on my computer, I am not, and I didn't feel like using a mouse.
It really doesn't look this bad in real life, I promise.
I tried using a colored pencil version of Kesame's fur tutorial for the tail. I colored it orange with Prang then went over it with red and yellow water color pencils. It turned out okay.
My pen exploded on her eye a little, so I had to fix it with white out, ugh. A portion of her tail is blurry too. Whatever. LET'S SEE YOU MAKE THIS SCANNER DO ANYTHING RIGHT.

She drew me (Chomomma, not your momma) this great picture http://www.furaffinity.net/view/967810/ and Spook (I always want to say "I" but don't, because that's weird, I'm not a dog) looks so pretty and much more feminine than I could ever pull off irl, but I may have drawn her a bit more dainty than she is irl too, so whatev.

this is just so fucking awesome. you put so much effort into it and fuck i dont deserve that (btw, that fur tutorial is awesome). and you can do scripty fonts, man i suck at letters. its just.. this is blowing my mind. im not going to favorite anything else for a week. and by a week i mean FOREVARS

See the trick is to not think of them as letters. I go to dafont.com and just copy it as I would if I were looking at a reference photo.
I actually had a bat for about three weeks not too long ago. They are a pain in the ass to take care of. I found him injured and kept him alive until we could get him to a bat rescue.
I was really happy with how well the tutorial translated into colored pencils. I'm pretty sure it only worked so well because I used water color pencils on top of the base color, they have a different sort of consistency that showed up strongly over it. I stole a bit of the way I do fur outlines from her too.

i like to do fur outlines like its running together and then at any curve BAM BREAKAGE.. my chihuahua's tail is inspiration because it moves a lot like cho's tail, etc.
i've done it with regular color pencils, and i do agree its probably better with water color.
