Same here. the worst part was it was so badly written i couldn't' tell what kind of defense they were even making. or if they were even disagreeing with me or agreeing with me.

Well, I try to keep the comic relatively family friendly. Besides, most of the time I'm assaulted by epic-level whining instead of profanity laced screaming.

Figured any profanity would be black-boxed due to the comic in any case.

You're lucky in getting relatively clean complaints though...When I get them in private messages, they're usually a pocket dictionary's worth of "colorful" language....

This sounds smug of me even though that isn't the intended tone, but since I don't do adult themed art, the people griping at me tend to not be that way. Usually it's more someone wanting me to pay more attention to them, or upset that I didn't worship them in the precise little way that they wanted, or coddle them exactly the way they felt they deserved.

(That and the folks who know me worth a whit know that if they do come at me like that they better be ready for my retaliation. As I told one person, "If you continue this I will do something, and you will not like it." They continued, and I proceeded to give them a public psych evaluation. Without going into gory detail, they never came back and I didn't have to so much as raise my voice.)

We have similar personalities, Gen.
Somewhat similar family backgrounds too....Which is probably why.
(And that is not bragging...I spend a lot of time trying to forget most of my family.)

We have very different attitudes towards adult content.
And thats fine.

I'm comfortable with what I draw, and its definitely not for everyone.

But I like to think you and I get along just fine, since we respect one another's opinions.

Although I should note that the reason why I don't draw adult art is that I'm not comfortable with it. It's in no way a judgement on anyone else, I just can't bring myself to do it.

I try to be nice and think "If I would not say it in real life I will not say it online".

I've had that realization before of "Oh God...When I'm not face to face with someone I'm WAY more of a jerk"...What did it for me was seeing somebody I talk to regularly on webcam, and realizing that if I got upset and said things out of anger, I would be facing him just as much as if I was right there in person with him. I don't think I've thought of online conversations the same way again since. o.o;;

I've also been on the other end of things...I used to have a friend who was rather quiet and reserved in person, yet would open up quite a bit online. That seemed to be alright until I realized how much this influenced our communications...When we'd hang out in person he'd never say a WORD to me if he was upset, yet I would get a screenfull once I got home and logged on my computer. He never really understood that this was a problem when I brought it up either. x3

the internet in general is like a big security blanket for some, infringe upon it and they'll denounce you from their virtual pulpits, thus earmarking their total lack of social graces and general lack of backbone to admit they were wrong.

Yea I hear yea. I ran a couple of mucks back in the day myself. I also run a guild on a semi-popular MMORPG, moderated a couple of forums, among other things online. The only truth I could see and find about all this is that folks tend to be morons at times, and even if they apologize for it, they never really learn manners.

you know, I have a different point of view. I think IRL all you get (from this group of people) is a half hearted apology to get them out of trouble. online you find out how they really feel. I think, at least for rudeness, the only apologies you'll get are the sincere ones.

on the other hand, don't confuse this with apology by way of explanation. ("I'm sorry for being late, I missed the bus", instead of "I'm sorry for being late"). The difference being, social faux pas can be much more complicated to explain then missing a bus. especially for people prone to rambling.... now where was I going with that.....

I've always referred to the internet as opposite land just for this reason. It seems like some of the worst behaviors (& especially logic) fly freely online where, like you said, it just never would anywhere else. It blows my mind man, haha.

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear this sort of thing happens to you sometimes. You deserve better for how good you always are to folks <3

OMG I can't believe you actually said that! That offends me to my deepest core! I was just trying to be nice and watch you and fav every picc you've ever done because I'm your deepest, most obsessive fan. This makes me so heartbroken I think I'm going to go slit my wrists now or OD on sleeping pills or just shoot myself in the head, well not really but you get the idea. Yeah, the poor bird tends to be my fall guy as nobody in my immediate social circle has a bird character. Whenever I used wolves or other critters folks thought I was attacking them, so... bird.

The bird fall guy has become almost iconic in your work gen hehe.

I always say, never judge a person as you know them in one medium, weather that be via the Internet or face to face. They are often different people entirely. But this makes it no less right to loose social etiquette on the Internet.... But let's face it, we all troll a bit sometimes (especially trolling the trolls) so we are all responsible in a way.
