Hadn't heard of the squidpunk idea until a few months ago when someone decided to list all possible -punk genres.
But I've thought having characters with chromatophores that could change color would be cool, for quite some time. I'm pretty sure I got that idea from something in Francis Tsai's sketchblog. He's a seriously cool artist.
