One in a series of character pictures from a novel I recently finished. People who read it were curious about how I'd draw the characters, so I did some quick pictures. Apologies for the cheap backgrounds and bad scans of these, for some reason my scanner is seriously washing everything out. This is flock leader Whitehead (on the right) and his assistant Sharkan-eet.

You really, REALLY wouldn't want to get too friendly with these two. One of them is armed with an actual gun - small caliber but quite lethal - and the other's Berzerk Button is being treated like a talking animal. Not all greenies are as bone-deep evil as these two specimens, though.
What role do these play in the story?
You did an excellent job of making "cute" birds look quite deadly serious -- those glares as as lethal as anything a hawk can provide.
I'd guess they're either villains, or about to make a very hard, very cold choice. The sort of choice where someone ends up dead at the end of it.

They're the (main) bad guys, although I tried to stay away from the 'speciesism' of the Redwall books (where every member of a particular species is always bad, or always good.) So there are some good parrots and bad griffins, but generally the parrots are the villians.
