Hmm, I'm pretty sure the first time a Dalek ever zapped anyone, it just paralysed Ian's legs and warned him he'd be properly exterminated next time. If this one knows you're friends with the Doctor, it'll probably keep you alive, to lure him into a trap. And then he'll save you, like he always does! ^.^
