Brain, why did you inspire me to create a new character when I'm all depressed? It makes no sense.
He needs a name. Something really cute, like Skitters or Ed or something?
Anyway, this guy is a raven gryphon, his anatomy is based off of a cheetah. He is the size of a housecat. He has a fascination for crystals and gems, and loves to just carry them around in his beak and stare at them. He loves to steal and hide things, and generally be a cute little troll. His behaviours reflect both those of a raven and a housecat. He also loves to jump on unsuspecting peoples shoulders for snuggles. But then is so squirmy that it's hard to get a hold of to give pets.
And he eats carrion. Yummy~

I looked up terms that could be a term for fascination with bright or shiny objects but only found the term 'Magpie Syndrome'
I kind of like the idea of naming something that isn't one animal another animal's name :p
But also Pica, I think sounds cool, that's the term for when you have an uncontrollable habit for eating non edible things.

You could alter his personality or traits a bit to fit it, maybe he swallows precious things to carry around. Birds obviously use their crop to transport food home to babies, he could use his to store nice things till he gets home :D
Birds also will sometimes eat sand, and small pebbles to help aide in digestion, so it wouldn't be far from natural bird behavior.

Some birds will actually vomit up food for people they have a strong bond with. XD

It also fits in with the cat half too! I'm sure we've all had times when our cats bring us home little delights because they thing we're looking a bit malnourished, or need to brush up on our hunting techniques. :B
