She was suffering from a disease called Living Death, an incurable degenerative disease which causes you to slowly lose all of your senses and eats away at your bones and organs until your body its itself alive. Her family did nothing but pray that she would get better instead of actively seeking a cure. When an angel granted her immortality, her first order of business was to start on her plan for vengeance.
