my housemate,  latexfox has an easy, and simple cooking method, in a roasting pan, add rice and the required water, add other things, like porkchops, or chicken breasts, and veggies that roast well, veggies that love to be roasted, can include broccoli, onions, potatoes, garlic, yams, peppers, summer squash, tomatoe, even! [omg tomatoes get soft, and not for everyone cause of the texture, but the flavor...is divine, sweeeet, and just murrr]. then season with what you want, I like to drizzle olive oil on meats, to help with browning, and improve cooking, rosemary sage, and thyme are great flavor boosters. next you just seal it in tinfoil, pop it in the oven at about 375 for an hour or as much as 2 hours, the more loaded the pan, or the thicker the meat, the more time that might need adding. for larger pans, stirring the rice may be needed, as the rice can cook unevenly. but it's a delicious, and simple meal, that has starches, veggies and meat. and look how pretty mine turned out!!
