This hat was commissioned by Stickpup (FA account?) at MFF 2012. I've never played TF2 or watched Sam and Max cartoons, but I vaguely know what they are. Plus, I LOVE doing bizarre commissions like this.
Also experimented with using pipe cleaners to prop up the ears. The pipe cleaners rest against the wearer's head to stabilize the ears! It was super effective.
