"Little Brother" said he, "feel under my jaw."
Mowgli put up his strong brown hand, and just under Bagheera's silky chin, where the giant rolling muscles were all hid by the glossy hair, he came upon a little bald spot.
"There is no one in the jungle that knows that I, Bagheera, carry that mark -- the mark of the collar; and yet, Little Brother, I was born among men, and it was among men that my mother died -- in the cages of the King's Palace at Oodeypore. It was because of this that I paid the price for thee at the Council when thou wast a little naked cub. Yes, I too was born among men. I had never seen the jungle. They fed me behind bars from an iron pan till one night I felt that I was Bagheera, the Panther, and no man's plaything, and I broke the silly lock with one blow of my paw, and came away; and because I had learned the ways of men, I became more terrible in the jungle than Shere Khan. Is it not so?"
"Yes," said Mowgli; "all the jungle fear Bagheera -- all except Mowgli."

This. Is. Beautiful.
I would love to say what I like best about this but I just can't decide. From the subtle expressions over the magnificent jungle lightning to the amazing way you rendered Bagheera's black fur. This is one of the best things I have seen on FA in a long time.
And you have convinced me to go read Kipling's book to boot.

This is indeed a very emotive piece. Along with the text you accompany to this, the image really shows the relationship of friendship and trust between each other. That kind of emotions is really hard to acchieve, and you have done it perfectly.
Rather than present us a technically astounding piece, you showed us that the content of the enevelope is really what matters and that is sending a message, and we should remember that and transmit feelings and tell something using a piece of artwork such as yours.
Brilliant.

Because of this I actually found and read Jungle Book (older version, some from early 20 century).
I knew Mowgli's story well, but never read it.
You just made such a beautiful artwork, that encompasses a lot from the spirit of the story.
Bagheera is definitely a great and lovable character

Well too late for me to discover the book as I have already read it a few times, but I really loved the drawing. And sure, at the first line of comment I totally knew what the scene was about.
Absolutely love the expressions and Mowgly feral kid look. It totally makes justice to the author, and I could see this image in an ilustration from an old version of the jungle book.
And yes. Bagheera is that dark yet good-to-her-folk character that totally does not fit with the rest of the jungle people there, and this is just the key passage explaining why it is so. Excellent choice for a celebration drawing.
*Hope 5 years is not too much to comment* xD
