This is an illustration for Erin Hoffman's short story in the upcoming issue of Reynard's menagerie. If you are able to pick up a copy, you should! Its a fun read. http://www.renardsmenagerie.com/
I'd like to thank Phantaz and Chezem for kind permission to use their photos for reference.
Special guest appearances by Nambroth's Bronze Wing Pionus Khu and Cockatiel Feathers (may she beep in peace) and Erin's own Eclectus, Smeagol.
This was fun, even if I was a little tired of drawing Psittacines by the end of it. I wish I had time to add more birds but this piece is due. I did my best to get the relative sizes correct, but it was mainly guesswork with some tips from Nam.
All you parrot lovers, how did I do?

Beautiful, simply beautiful.
You have combined two of my loves into one fantastic picture.
The parrots are wonderful, I love the Eclectus' stance. I really like the face of the Palm cockatoo, but the pose looks slightly goofy as he looks like he's in an odd mid-stretch on one foot in front of the body; it's typically behind, unless he's gonna give his nose a good scratch but his heads at a funny angle for that--simply put, if you put the foot down, he'll look fine. The macaw is awesome. He looks like he's about ready to sneeze--he's so cute.
Could you tell me what the bird is above the Palm cockatoo? That's the only one I couldn't place.
That dragon face is going down as one of my favorite dragon faces thus far. The dragon's body is a little muddled, it feels like a floating torso with a tail.
But hey, when something's due it's due ^^
Sorry for the long post . . . but this just got me all jazzed, I wanna look into those books now.
Faves and +watches.

I'm glad you like it! The Palm 'too is supposed to look goofy, like he's showing off his foot since i know some parrots are incredibly proud of their feet. XD The looseness of the dragon goes along with the story. ;3 And the bird above the Palm 'too is the pionus, Khu.
Thank you again!
Thank you again!
We need a motherfucking army of physicists working around the clock to discover the loophole in reality that allows crudely drawn pornography to rack up more views and favorites on this site in 24 hours than this thing has in a month. This is one of the most eye-popping images I've ever seen on this site.
God I love this. I think this is quite possibly one of the best pieces of art I've seen on here! Its a beautiful picture, we've got loads of parakeets at home, its so sweet to see them in this context! And amen to Slammonteps comment, it tis an infuriating situation to see art like this go under-appreciated.
