Did you know that:
Cake is a lie is a reference to Marie Antoinette's Let Them Eat Cake?
And that she never actually said that? Instead it was political propaganda in which the poor was so poor, they couldn't afford bread, so the upper class would joke to give them cake instead.

Did you know that there was going to be Adhesion Gel, but it proved to be too dizzying, so they nullified the code and removed its sticky properties, and it can still be found in the code of the game?
Did you know that the story of the Companion Cube was based off of objectum sexuality?

I not only know about Portal, but I know a ton of other useless facts, too.
Did you know that the word "sabotage" comes from the French sandal "sabot," in which, during the Industrial Revolution, French workers would revolt and strike by tossing their sabots in the machinery, destroying the machinery, and forcing the factory down due to poor pay and working conditions?

1729 is the first number that can be expressed as the sum of two cubes in two different ways, nine cubed plus ten cubed, and twelve cubed plus one cubed. It's known as a taxicab number, after early 20th century mathematician Ramanaujan was discussing the significance of the number of the taxicab he was riding with his colleague. The Futurama animators and screenwriters are mathematicians, and decided to slip this number in frequently throughout their episodes.
This has been another Pterofractal Random Fact.

Science History: Edison didn't really invent anything. He was a con man who stole the credit from several other people, namely Nikola Tesla.
Math History: The Pythagorean Brotherhood was an ancient Greek group that was essentially a cult of mathematicians composed of men and women in which their math was meant to be kept secret. They were the first to discover irrational numbers (though found them to be too irrational to exist, hence their name), the Golden Ratio (yes, they knew about it long before Fibonacci, and it's seen all throughout their art and architecture), but ironically not the Pythagorean Theorem (they were the first to describe it mathematically, though). They essentially worshiped math, but had a lot of silly rules such as not eating beans or meat or not to urinate facing the sun.
