Personal - Midnight Clearing
~~~
Grr, was just about to set up for the night as I was browsing some speedpaints, and darn, wasn't I inspired to try one out. I keep telling myself I'll practice backgrounds, and it's about time I did so with some time between commissions.
Haven't done a speedpainting in...a while. A year? Two years? So go easy on me. Though I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I'll still have to play around with the brushes and opacities a bit... The trick to good speedpainting is good speedpainting brushes, and my current palette consists of mostly airbrushes and pens. I used some of Goro's (a prof speedpainter) brushes for the textures.
30 layers...one hour.
I am happy how this image turned out, as it is it looks as mystique as it is clear with the moon light showing through the trees. As a speedpaint I like the landscapes and think it can even be recycled with a setting of your characters if you chose to, this is very nice.
<3 Lovely piece. The only thing that actually "disturbs" me a little is the background as it is on the right side of the image - it looks very uneasy. I'm a bit unsure about it, then again, because the pattern looks a bit like compression artifacts. Either way, it gives it a very unsettled, unsharp feeling when looking at, which actually disturbs the overall experience in my eyes.
