First practice attempt at clothing! Probably should have picked something a little easier from the get go, but this one caught my eye.
I won't be following the refs exactly when I draw these- I really hate directly using photo refs. I'll be adjusting the pose and clothing a little bit, mostly using the picture as a guide on what to do.
Amusing story- I've finally given up trying to get my backgrounds super smooth, so for this picture I went out of my way to try and make it blotchy- and it turned out almost perfectly smooth again. Watercolours, why you be trollin'?
Anyway, I've learned some things, hopefully the next one will turn out even better!

The picture as a whole is a standard 8.5 by 11 inches. I actually only use two brush sizes- a biggish one for the background wash, and a slightly less big one for the rest of the character. You don't really need many fancy brushes, just have to learn to keep your hand steady. :P
